In order to complete our technician class, you will be required to obtain a copy of the Gordon West, WB6NOA "Technician Classs 2010-2014" study material. No other book or publication will be acceptable! By participating in this class, you agree to acquire your own personal copy. This study guide is available as a soft cover book, book with software, and as an audio course. Simply click on one of the links below. Although not required, purchasing your book via Amazon using one of the links below allow us to generate sales reports, the publisher will then send us additional class materials, free of charge, based on our sales report. These additional materials are for the benefit of class participants.
The Kings County Repeater Association (in cooperation with Port Richmond CERT) will sponsor a class to help you pass the FCC Technician amateur radio exam. This is a hybrid class consisting of several weeks of assignments and assistance via E-Mail and two days of hands on, in person training, followed by the exam. Knowledge of Morse code is no longer required.
This class and the accompanying exam will be provided absolutely free of charge!
The E-Mail part of the course is set to start on Sunday, June 2nd, 2013. The in person part of the class (and exam) will be held on July 13th and 14th from 8:00 AM until 6:00 PM right here on Staten Island. Exact address and room number will be provided as the dates approach.
While this class is open to the public, priority will be given to volunteers of Port Richmond CERT, and the following organizations: National Guard, Red Cross, and the New York Guard. The KCRA and Port Richmond CERT will in no way be liable if, for any reason, you are removed from this class to make room for an individual belonging to one of these organizations.
Students whom complete all assignments and pass the exam will receive a raffle ticket for the chance to win a dual band handheld radio! Additionally. All class participants in attendance will be eligible for a significantly discounted combination membership to both the ARRL and KCRA.
