Greetings to all club members, Friends of the KCRA and fellow HAM’s!

The next meeting, March 20th, joining us for a presentation will be your ARRL Hudson Division Director Joyce Birmingham, KA2ANF, the Vice-Director William Hudzik, W2UDT and ARRL NLI Section Manager Mike Lisenco, N2YBB.  We will also be discussing the plans for the new repeater equipment, and what we anticipating we will be doing in the future with it.

I would like to thank Bill Pasternak, of “Amateur Radio News Line”, for his Skype meeting with us last month.  Bill discussed the history of the club since its conception in 1968.  It was a very interesting long distance two way video conversation with Bill, and we thank him very much for the time he spent with us!

Repeater Status:   This week we gave up on fixing the GE master II repeater.  Over the weekend, it was caught smoking in Jim’s shop!  It is not beyond repair, but the boys have put in too much time and money on trying to get it running.  It is time to replace the old outdated equipment, with a brand new repeater.  We have started ordering parts, cables, and will put it together in about 10 days.

We have a lot of work left to do on at the repeater site.  The next trips to the site, we will be: installing the new repeater; removing the old equipment; taking down the antenna for a tune up; adding a ground wire to the equipment cabinet and testing the cable; if time permits, installing a newer antenna. Please be patient, we will be back on the “Air” shortly.

In the interim, the KC2LEB UHF (440.5500 / 445.5500 PL-141.3, Staten Island North), and the clubs WG2MSK D-Star repeaters are available for use. Look for the KCRA Monday Night Club Net @8:30 following the Big Apple Traffic Net on Jim's repeater.
