Greetings to club members, Friends of the and all fellow HAM’s!

Last weekend, Gary KB2BSL, Jim KC2LEB, Russ KC2LSB and Charlie WA2GUG held a free two day EC-001 class. The EmComm-001 certification class was designed to provide basic knowledge and tools for any emergency communications volunteer.  It included elements of ICS-100: Introduction to the Incident Command System and ICS-700: National Incident Management System (NIMS).  They had a 100% pass rate for the test that was given the second day. They did an excellent job at teaching the class!!

This month, MikeLisenco (N2YBB) the ARRL Hudson Division Director and Jim Mezey (W2KFV) our ARRL Section manager will be dropping in for an update on what is happening in our division. During our special ARRL night the club will extend a special combination ARRL/KCRA membership offer. New ARRL and KCRA members will be able to join for a special combination price of only $50 for their first year, this is a savings of over $20.00. Additional details are available here.

September 10, I will be doing a special event station from Governors Island using portable equipment. We will have a station set up on 20M or 40M depending on band conditions.  I will try to monitor the KC2RA repeater.  I hope to be operating from sometime after 11:00 am until 3:30 pm.

This month the KCRA Executive Board is open for nominations from the full members, and shall close with the October membership meeting. At the time of this writing, all board members are running.

Become Radioactive!   Come to the KCRA meetings!  Learn something participating in our Hands-On-Labs! The Kings County Repeater Association needs your support at our monthly meetings!  If you have any ideas that pertain to amateur radio, we would like to hear from you.

I think most of us are members of the ARRL.  If you are not, I would like you to consider becoming a member of the ARRL. The ARRL has a lot to offer you in many ways, and they protect the amateur radio bands from commercial use!
