Greetings to club members, Friends of the KCRA, and all fellow HAM’s!

July and August meetings have been canceled.

Our regular scheduled meetings will resume in September.

It’s Summer, time to get out of the house and join your fellow HAMS, get on the air, meet up with some old friends and make new ones!

Some of the Summer events club members are participating in:

- National Night Out (always held on the first Tuesday of August)

Tuesday, August 1, 2017; 04:00-09:00 pm, “Turtle Circle” at South Beach SI. & 

You are invited to join us, KCRA, ARES, CERT, NYCRA and guys from the NTS, for National Night Out Against Crime,

on the Staten Island board walk. Come over and join the fun, we will have portable radios and portable antennas set

up on the boardwalk. We made some great overseas contacts last year, and will do it again! It was a lot of fun!

- International Lighthouse/Lightship Weekend (Always held on the third full weekend of August)

Saturday – Sunday Aug. 19-21, 2017 & 

There are over 10 lighthouses within reach in the five boroughs. Find one close to you and set up portable operation!!

You can also try looking for them on spotting networks.

- Total Solar Eclipse will take place on Monday, August 21, 2017 - Eclipse Mob is a crowd sourced effort to conduct the

largest-ever low-frequency radio wave propagation experiment during the 2017 solar eclipse.

The IRLP & D-Star server needs to be re-located to get internet service needed for their


The 2M club repeater has been up and running well for the past several months with out any issues. Our Tech-Team,

did a excellent job in restoring its operation to full capacity.

Become Radioactive! Come to the KCRA meetings! Learn something participating in our Hands-On-Labs! The

Kings County Repeater Association needs your support at our monthly meetings! If you have any ideas that

pertain to amateur radio, we would like to hear from you. I think most of us are members of the ARRL. If you

are not, I would like you to consider becoming a member of the ARRL. The ARRL has a lot to offer you in many

ways, and they protect the amateur radio bands from commercial use!
