For the Sicilian square pizza & ice cream from an old-school Italian counter!

         Address: 2725 86th St, Brooklyn, NY 11223

*** In September, the Guild needs to use our room for a meeting.

***  We will hold it at L&B’s outside, if the weather is bad, we will be inside.

It’s Summer, time to get out of the house and join your fellow HAMs, get on the air, meet up with some old friends and make new ones!

List of the summer events club members are participating in:

- The Great Solar Eclipse took place on Monday, August 21, 2017.  It was a great day, excellent

weather, and all the bands were very active!!!.  The “Eclipse-Mob”, low-frequency radio wave

propagation experiment worked very well.  I was able to collect over 2 hours of data before the

 batteries failed.

News Updates:

September 13, I will be doing a special event station from Governors Island using portable equipment. We will have a station set up on 20M or 40M depending on band conditions.  I will try to monitor the KC2RA repeater. I hope to be operating from sometime after 11:00 am until 3:30 pm.

This month the KCRA Executive Board is open for nominations from the full members, and shall close with the October membership meeting. At the time of this writing, all board members are running.

We are looking in to doing a free HAM Technician (2) day weekend class and test, probably in November.  We have always gotten a great response from the participants of the hands-on class, and will be doing this class again this winter.  The class will be open to ALL, and is free, including the testing!!

The IRLP & D-Star server needs a new location, with free access to the internet.

The KC2RA 2M club repeater has been up and running very well for the past several months without any issues.  I am looking for some help getting the “Club”-net back on the air.  A good time for me to run the net is after 09:00 PM.  Topics will be HAM and PC related... tips-tricks-antennas, some crazy distance doing QRP... maybe some Morse code...

Become Radioactive!   Come to the KCRA meetings!  Learn something, participating in our Hands-On-Labs!  The CLUB needs your support at our monthly meetings!  If you have any ideas that pertain to amateur radio, we would like to hear from you.

Protect the Amateur Radio bands from commercial use!  Join the ARRL!!

Remember, it’s hurricane season, be prepared!

Have a Great Summer!! Hope to see YOU in the fall... Batteries charged?

73’ until September
